12th of November

IDENTITY MAP

Discussions;

What makes us who we are
How do you think people see you?
How do we make a first impression?
What objects, music, clothes, food do you consider as being part of yourself?

After our discussions, we tried out ways of personalising our sketchbook and bags:

  • A caring fluffy cover to match our animal totem; (sewing, glueing, tying knots, platting...)
  • Screen printing processes to create a bag front; write a word backwards on a screen, turn it over , fill it up with ink, use a squeegee to press the ink through the silk screen, print your picture on bag!

Today we learnt one of the print making techniques called screen printing.

We all created a design or logo with masking tape on a small screen

We had to think backwards as the word gets reversed when printed

We tired it on a piece of fabric or on our own bags

We turned the screen around , used some ink and used a squeegee to press the ink through the screen

We learnt how to do it for ourselves and then we taught what we learnt to someone else.
